Dating sites through facebook
Online dating can be so stressful – filling out the profile and keeping up with all the interactions can feel like a job – so it’s no surprise that sometimes digital romance blooms under more Facebook friend-ly circumstances.Jeffrey Hall, associate professor of Communication Studies at University of Kansas, was surprised to learn that 7% of people who married after meeting online had met for the first time on social networking sites like Facebook, My Space and Class Mates – not matchmaking chat rooms, or online dating sites or via other romance-centric cyber connections.
A new service called The Datable seeks to make love connections within Facebook's global network of more than 901 million users.
"We have no overheads," says James, who is the sole full-time employee of the company.
"We just need a laptop and it's very easy to scale this type of business." "Facebook has 1.2bn users and while not all of those people are potential dates, it's safe to say the audience is much bigger than Tinder of Match.com," says James, who says he has always been seen as a "bit of a Cupid" in his friendship circle.
"Most of your friends are already on Facebook, so by using Facebook Connect it's simple and quick to tag the ones you think are datable," co-founder and CTO Michael Brotzman tells Mashable.
"All you have to do is click." The free service lets Facebook users connect with friends of friends, and their single friends.
